Online registration for the main Tour event, the free Bringing Back the Natives Garden Tour on May 4th, is closed. Registration for Select Tours can be completed here.
The main May 4th tour does offer walk-in registration on the day of the tour, starting at 10:00am, at eleven gardens located in Alameda, Berkeley, Brentwood, Castro Valley, El Cerrito, Oakland, Livermore, Martinez, Moraga, Richmond, and Walnut Creek.
Walk-in registrants will be asked to fill out a registration form; then they will provided with a printed garden guide which contains the garden addresses and directions. There are a limited number of guides at each of these special walk-in registration gardens; please arrive early to ensure there are still guides available. One guide will be provided for each group.
Walk-in registration sites are open from 10:00 – 5:00 on Sunday, May 4, 2007. Please do not visit any of these locations to request a guide before the day of the tour.

Alameda
Alameda Butterfly garden
200 Aughinbaugh Road, Alameda
Directions: Heading south on the 880 take the High St. exit and turn right onto High.*
Heading north on 880 take the High St. Exit and turn left onto High.
*Continue through the next light and over the bridge; stay in the left lane. Take the first left after the bridge onto Fernside. Continue on Fernside to the dead end at Otis. Turn left onto Otis and take the first right after the bridge onto Island Drive. Turn right at the light onto Robert Davey Drive. Continue to the dead end at Aughinbaugh. Turn right onto Aughinbaugh; the parking lot for the school and garden is on the left.
Berkeley
Schoolhouse Creek Common
Virginia and Curtis Streets, Berkeley
Directions: From the I-80 exit at University, head toward the hills, and continue .8 miles. Turn left at San Pablo Ave. and go .3 miles. Turn right onto Virginia and go .2 miles. Schoolhouse Creek Commons is at the corner of Curtis and Virginia.
Brentwood

Directions: Exit Hwy 4 at Lone Tree Way and head south 7.5 miles. Turn right at Fairview Avenue and continue .8 miles.
From the I-580 take the Vasco exit toward Brentwood. Vasco becomes Walnut. Turn left at Balfour (the 1st main street in Brentwood). Continue on Balfour to Fairview and turn right onto Fairview. Continue on to Central.*
Turn right at Central Blvd. and go .1 mile. Be prepared to show a photo ID at the entrance to this gated community. Turn right at Apple Hill Drive and continue .4 miles. Turn right at Newton Drive and continue 460 feet; turn left a Sundale Lane. The house is on the corner.
Castro Valley

El Cerrito

Directions: From I-80 east or west take El Cerrito's Central Avenue exit and go east. Turn right onto San Pablo Avenue and continue one block to Fairmount; turn left onto Fairmount and continue east 4 blocks past the El Cerrito Plaza and Bart Station to Behrens Street. Turn right onto Behrens. The house is two blocks down on the right side.
Livermore

Directions: From the 580 take the Portola Avenue exit. At the first light take a right onto Murrietta. Turn right onto Holmes. Turn left onto Lexington. Turn right onto Windsor. Turn left onto Ardmore Place.
From Highway 84 (from HWY 680) Highway 84 turns into Holmes. Turn right onto Lexington. Turn right onto Windsor. Turn right onto Ardmore Place.
Martinez

Directions: Coming from the west take Hwy. 4 East toward Stockton and continue to the Alhambra Ave. exit. At the exit turn right (south) onto Alhambra Ave.*
Coming from the east take Hwy. 4 West toward Richmond. At the exit turn left (south) toward Alhambra Ave. and go .3 miles.
* Go .2 miles on Alhambra Ave. and turn left onto Alhambra Way, which is the first street on the left. Continue .3 miles; at the second stop sign (three-way intersection of Alhambra Way, Muir Station Road and Pleasant Hill Road East) make a hairpin right-hand turn onto Pleasant Hill Rd. East. Continue .2 miles and turn left onto Donaleen Ct.
Moraga

Directions: From Walnut Creek take Hwy 24 West. Take the Central Lafayette/Moraga Exit and get into the right lane. Turn right at each of the first two stop lights and continue in the right lane .3 miles down to Mount Diablo Road in central Lafayette. Turn right onto Mount Diablo Road and immediately get into the left lane to be able to make a left turn at the next intersection. At that intersection, turn left onto Moraga Road and stay on it for 3.6 miles. Turn right on Corliss Dr. and go 1.0 mile to number 57 (on your right).
From Berkeley and Oakland take Hwy 24 East. Take the Orinda/Moraga Exit and turn right onto Camino Pablo at the first stoplight. Camino Pablo soon becomes Moraga Way. Continue on Moraga Way for 3.6 miles. Turn left on Hardie Drive and go .4 miles. Turn left on Woodside Dr. and go .2 miles. Turn left on Corliss Drive. Number 57 is the fourth house on your right.
Oakland

Directions: From the north take the I-580 East and exit at the first off-ramp, which is Macarthur Blvd. Continue .6 miles on Macarthur. Turn left onto Market St. and go .9 miles. Turn right on 56th Street.
From the south take the CA-24 East and exit onto Martin Luther King Jr. Way and continue 1.3 miles. Turn left on 56th Street and go .2 miles.
Peralta Hacienda Historical Park

Directions: Coming from the north on the I-580 take the Fruitvale Ave. exit, and turn right onto Fruitvale. Turn left on Hyde St. Turn right onto Coolidge, and make an immediate left onto Hyde St. Finally, turn left onto 34th ave., and left into the parking lot.
Coming from the south on I-580 take the exit toward Coolidge Ave./ Fruitvale Ave. and merge onto Montana St. Turn left at Coolidge, and continue for about one mile. Turn left onto Hyde st., and left onto 34th Ave., which terminates at the park.
Parking: If there is room park in the lot adjacent to the Peralta House, if the lot is full, park on the street.
Richmond

Directions: Coming from Berkeley on I-80 take the San Pablo Avenue exit; at the end of the exit turn right onto San Pablo Ave. At the first traffic light turn right onto Barrett Ave.*
Coming from the Pinole on I-80 take the San Pablo Ave. exit; at the end of the exit turn right onto Barrett Avenue.
*Continue down Barrett to 31st Street. Turn right onto 31st Street and go one block to Roosevelt Avenue. The house is on the corner of Roosevelt and 31st. It is an easy walk to Laurel Eber’s garden, which is just down the street.
Walnut Creek

Directions: Northbound on I 680 take the Ygnacio Valley exit and turn right. Travel 3 miles and turn right on Oak Grove. Take the first left, which is Diablo Shadow. Take the second left, which is Stinson Circle.
Traveling south take I 680 South to the Treat Blvd exit and turn left. Go one block to the next light and turn left again. Head over the freeway for about 3 miles to Oak Grove. Turn right on Oak Grove and travel about 1 mile to Ygnacio Valley. Head through the intersection and then take the first left, which is Diablo Shadow. Once on Diablo Shadow take the second left, which is Stinson Circle.
Registration Details and Guest Etiquette
- Each person who enters a garden must turn in a ticket. Tickets are found in the back of the garden guide.
- The tour starts at the garden of your choice at 10 am. Visit as many gardens as you like before 5 pm. Do not arrive early or after 5 pm. We recommend selecting the gardens you would like to visit by reviewing the garden descriptions and talks before setting out for the day. You can plan your route using mapquest.com or maps.google.com.
- Please follow standard parking etiquette—do not block driveways or double park. Watch for special parking instructions at select gardens.
- Children must be closely supervised by an accompanying adult. Strollers are not permitted in the gardens.
- Stay on marked paths and wear sturdy shoes.
- Do not pick flowers, fruits or vegetables. Do not take cuttings.
- Restroom facilities are available at most of the public gardens. No restroom facilities are available at the home gardens.
- Smoking is not permitted.
- Leave pets at home.
